Memories are tricky things. They feel real but yet they are changeable, tempered by time and experience. They are played back in our minds in turn acidic and vivid then blurred around the edges. Did this really happen this way or are you filling in the blanks? At the time it was happening, was it really as happy, sad, mysterious, exciting or dangerous as we now hold the event in our mind's eye? We all start out small and unknowing of how a larger world operates. Memories, however distorted, help us put together a story of our life. Our own childhood memories then superimpose themselves on the lens of how we see those younger than us. Video and photography are ways to try and hold our personal history as clearly as we can yet they are only a simulation.
